One thing that many associate with Texas, and for good reason, is American westward expansion, cowboys, and ranching. You can’t go wrong with getting your ranch hand and historical fix by visiting the George Ranch Historical Park, close to Pearland RV Park.
George Ranch Historical Park
The George Ranch Historical park is a 480-acre living history museum. It is still a real working ranch and follows the lineage of a Texas family for a century, from the 1830s to the 1930s. Here you’ll be able to interact with costumed interpreters, tour historic home sites and watch cowboys sort and rope cattle. You can’t get much more traditional ranch than that!
Places to Visit
The four home sites include the Jones Stock Farm, the Ryon Prairie Home, the George Ranch Complex, and the Davis Victorian Mansion. You’ll move through time as you visit the Jones Stock Farm from the 1830s and see the log cabin, barns, and outdoor kitchen. As you move forward, you’ll discover the Ryon Prairie Home with its Greek revival house and chuckwagon camp.
Next up on the historical train is the Davis Mansion where you can see the third generation of that family by touring the home while observing a blacksmith working in his shop. Finally, the George Ranch Complex is where you can catch the cowboys roping cattle and riding a bucking barrel.
